Everyone likes to feel that they’ve made a difference. I’m incredibly lucky because so many times I get to see the difference I’ve made. In my work as a coach, trainer and mentor to children and young people, I’ve seen the transformative effect of putting taekwondo practise into their lives. And each time is just as inspiring as the first time.
Taekwondo seeks to embody and to teach all its practitioners – of any age – guidelines for excellent decision-making and then for excellent life actions. I truly believe that this is transformative – because I’ve seen them in action, time after time.
To give time and energy to the young means to build the future
When we start becoming the people we’ve always wanted to be, we begin to make a real, positive difference in the world around us. I don’t think there’s ever been a time when this has been more vital than right now.
And it’s never too early to start! That’s why I work with young people. I enjoy teaching adults too, but to invest time and energy in the young means to build the future. It’s my legacy. It’s work I’m committed to, and proud of.
