The way of the foot,
the fist – and the future

So what’s taekwondo?

The word is Korean. It means ‘the way of the foot and the fist’. It’s a martial art, with roots going back over 2000 years. In Korea it’s always been known as much more than a sport or a means of self-defence, but as a way of life based on self-discipline, perseverance and other positive moral qualities.

I run my business, which is Panther Taekwondo Black Belt Academy, and I hope I do a good job of it! But for me it’s so much more than a business. Taekwondo is also an art that I love. I could just as easily teach one person in a room as run a school full of students. For me, the joy would be there.

When I have a problem, or need to make a decision, for me the answer will be found in the values I believe in. My values are the values of Taekwondo.

I’ve been in classes around the world, and the majority of students feel the same as I do. They want to live their lives by principles that mean something to them. At Panther Taekwondo Black Belt Academy, we look for students to conduct themselves with increasing self-discipline and focus, and to begin to embody the five principles of taekwondo:

Integrity

Perseverance

Self-control

Indomitable spirit

As you ask yourself questions about your future, focus your mind on these.  They contain the seeds of transformation.
